Google Fit just got a massive update

Google Fit has been updated to v1.57, bringing a significant visual overhaul and some new features like a fitness timeline and goal-setting that is more true-to-life. There’s also a new Android Wear watch face for Google Fit and the Android Wear app itself has also been rejuvenated.
The visuals are best experienced for yourself, but the whole experience is a lot more bright and vibrant now. Activity details (duration, calories burned, distance, steps) that used to be hidden in the circular overview screen are now visible at the top of the splash page. That means no more swiping to check each metric and there’s a mini progress ring for each day of the week.

The navigation drawer now features a new section called Timeline which is basically a historical log of your daily activities. There are a couple of drop down menus here so you can filter the data for a day, week or month. You can also choose what to display: active time, distance, calories or steps. You can tap a day’s entry to see an activity breakdown or bring up a an activity graph.
Goals are another new addition in Google Fit. Whereas in previous versions goals were a slightly awkward daily option, adding goals are now much more realistic. You can choose a preset goal (like being active for an hour a day or taking 10,000 steps) or you can create your own.
You can also have a goal occur multiple times per day, week or month. If you have multiple goals they will be added in a list to the splash screen in place of the large progress ring (which you can see in the image at the top of this post).

You can now add widgets, not just for your daily activity progress, but also for your goals. There’s a new Android Wear watch face called Google Fit Today which adds your fitness metrics to a more classically styled watch face. The Google Fit app for Android Wear has also changed a bit, and it too has a new black background by default.
Which fitness app do you use? Will you be checking out Google Fit again?
