Google Expeditions now available in the Play Store for all

Google first announced its Expeditions program during its I/O 2015 developer conference, though it took a little while to become available. The program has been out since last September, and since then more than a million students from 11 countries have taken over 200 virtual reality trips through the learning platform.
Google has announced today that Expeditions is now available for all.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Expeditions is a new way for teachers to take their students on field trips to basically any location around the world. The Expeditions app can be downloaded on the students’ smartphones, and from a separate device, the teacher can control which locations the students experience.

Of course, each student needs to be provided a Google Cardboard headset to take full advantage of the VR platform. To help schools out with the planning process, Best Buy Education is making Expeditions kits available for schools to purchase. These kits contain everything teachers need to make Expeditions work – a tablet, VR viewers and a router to connect them all.
To get started, teachers will need to download the Expeditions app onto a set of devices for the class. Easy, right? The app is available today in the Google Play Store and is coming to iPhones and iPads too.
